Alan Chan’s affection for tea can be found throughout his works and collections. His ‘Oriental Passion Western Harmony’ design philosophy has been recognized globally, and tea has always played a notable role in it.
Since 1990s, Chan had opened up tea houses in Hong Kong and Japan and designed for countless tea brands. A Japanese tea was even launched with the name “Mr. Chan” in 1999. Recently in 2016, he continues his tea journey to Paris by collaborating with Louis Vuitton and bridging the east and the west culture through his “Journey of Tea” trunk design. This time Chan curated The Language of Tea with teas from PLANTATION and contemporary tea wares from XIYAN, hoping to lead everyone into the world of tea with the designer’s teawares. To further strengthen the connection between tea and art design, he is also sharing his rare collections of teawares from China and Kyoto along with tea-themed design works, with all the present and future tea lovers.
