Just as its name suggests, RYU (瑠, means precious stones in Japanese) was designed to be a jewel on the Bund in Shanghai to provide an extraordinary fine dining experience to its customers. The restaurant features ‘Cuisine de Japon’, which is a unique style of dishes that combine the delicate art theory of Japanese food and luxurious visual experience from French cuisine.
Situated on the Bund, the most stylish prime location that inherits both tangible and intangible colonial cultural heritage in Shanghai, the design elements inside the 5,000 sqft restaurant, such as the screen walls with patterns formed by repeating the restaurant logo in the colours of traditional Japanese lacquer ware, coloured crystalized elements embedded on floor throughout the restaurant as gem stones to echo with the restaurant name and bespoke furniture that suggest the elegance of Art Deco style of 1930s Shanghai, all come together to bring out the personality of the restaurant.
